Hong Kong 2014 - Day 2 : Lan Fong Yuen (蘭芳園)

Next stop is Lan Fong Yuen (蘭芳園) to have our brunch Gage Street.  We took more than hour to find the place. From a lot of review on the net they are famous for their milk tea  which is known as pantyhose milk tea in Hong Kong (絲襪奶茶). Basically is something like our Teh C / Teh C Peng here.

Hong Kong 2014 - Day 2 : Wong Tai Sin Temple (王大仙)

Hong Kong trip 2nd day we go around  Chong Wan or Chung Wan (中環) or Central in English. According to Wikipedia, Central was of the district in Victoria City.  Quoted from Wikipedia "The English name Central became prevalent after the Island Line of the MTR metro system was built in early 1980s, and the connected stations of Pedder and Chater renamed as Central. On some older maps, it and the area to its west are named Kwan Tai Lo (羣帶路) below Victoria Peak. It formed a channel, Chung Mun (中門), with Tsim Sha Tsui, on the sea route along the coast of southern China. The eastern part of Central District has been known as Admiralty since the completion of Admiralty Station in the early 1980s.".

As the central business district of Hong Kong, many multinational financial services corporations have their headquarters in the area. Consulates general and consulates of many countries are also located in this area, as is Government Hill, the site of the government headquarters. The area, with its proximity to Victoria Harbour, has served as the centre of trade and financial activities from the earliest days of the British colonial era in 1841, and continues to flourish and serve as the administrative capital after the transfer of sovereignty to China in 1997.

First stop is Wong Tai Sin, from all the HK drama I watch whenever they go to temple it will be this temple or whenever they give some one talisman it will be from this temple.

This is the deity (月下老人) that all the youngster will pray to when they want to find a life partner. RLOL! I don't want to miss my chance to pray for a great life partner.

The ritual of the prayer is that we need to follow the steps as the below picture.  It is all in chinese and i don't understand a single word there.  Luckily I got my friend with me who help me.  We need to tie the red rope to the rope that connect the ribbon of the couple.

Hope I will meet the man of my dream. RLOL

Hong Kong 2014 - Tim Hou Wan

Tim Hou Wan is the cheapest Michelin Star Restaurant in the world,  it was a must go when you are in Hong Kong.  Do a search for the outlet nearby the place you stay as they have a quite a few outlet.  The nearest outlet that is near to the apartment we stayed is Tim Ho Wan Mongkok which is situated in Olympian Mall.

We ordered their famous Baked Bun with BBQ pork,  I love it a lot.  The out side is crunchy but the inside is soft and fluffy.  The Char Siew taste is well balance of sweetness, saltiness and smokeyness.  Just wish the bun will be bigger.

Another must order is their Fried Turnip Cake.  The turnip cakes contain to much of turnips that when you try to pick up the piece it fall apart.  No complain on that, just have to becareful when you pick up with your chopstick.

Next is the Tonic Medlar & Petal Cake (Kwai Fah Gou),  this is another dish that I love. Is a jelly like cake. It is very springy and refreshing with kwai fah fragrance.

Kwai Fah is a type of flower that has been widely use in chinese medicine.  The scientific name for it Kwai Fah is Osmanthus fragrans.

Chee Cheong Fun is up next.  We ordered the Plain Chee Cheong Fun and another with filling

The Har Kou skin is springy and the prawn in it is very fresh. NYUM! The chicken in the Lo Mai Kai is in big chucks and also the mushroom.  The Lotus leaf fragrant has penetrate into the rice. NYUM!

Total damage for 5 ppl not that expensive.  Worth the money!
