The Food Gallery, Tun Jugah – Fresh with new look

The Food Gallery new look and lovely ambience brings not only fresh contemporary touch but gives diners a comfortable and delightful dining experience.

Back then, the food court was originally designed as the generic type of food court found in a shopping centre; one with something for everyone, especially the family after a day of shopping. In recent years, the retail mix of the locality had changed, the clientele moved away from family groups towards young professionals wanting a conducive environment for a working lunch.

So, it is with these points in mind that the management of Tun Jugah decided to re-vamp the image of their food court - opting for a more contemporary feel and experience. The main design idea aims to invoke the feeling of eating street food; at the market, along the five foot way in the old part of town. Instead of using obvious props to re-create this feel, more intangible elements were employed - the silhouette of the concertina grilles allude to the Chinatown shop fronts while the incandescent light tubes is reminiscent of the market at night. Everyday items usually seen in coffee shops are used in un-usual ways - plastic stools become the ceiling and screens for the dining rooms and enamel crockery from the 70's are used as part of signage and decor.

The furniture has been re-designed as well using simpler and cleaner lines. It has a back-to-basics feel that might remind some patrons of their school days; sitting on benches, sharing stories in "them days" when everything was "better" and the community was more closely knitted. Indeed, there are two oversized tables inviting patrons to share space and perhaps stories and friendship.

With that, this newly designed food court on the third floor of Tun Jugah Mall invites public and shoppers to stay and enjoy the mouth-watering culinary delights of twelve different existing and new food stalls. Among the food retailers are Thai Cuisine, Yong Taufu, Korean Cuisine, the evergreen Sizzling stall, Chicken Rice, Beef Noodle, Claypot, local delights such as Mee & Nasi Goreng, Desserts and many more.

Pullman Launches Ramadhan with Candle Ritual @ Pullman Kuching

Pullman Kuching launches its ramadhan feast this year with a spectacular candle ritual that lights up the five-star property for this Holy month.  It blend in the essential French Accor Elegance with the local culture.

"Candle ritual is a nod to Accor's French root and this would be the first time we present it in Pullman Kuching" says Pullman Kuching general manager Terry Butt-Gow.

The candle ritual is adopted by selected Accor properties worldwide, but Pullman Kuching offers a unique take on the lighting ceremony with a dramatized flair of lighting up Puzzle Restaurant and the Lobby centre piece.

Mr Butt-Gow took over the GM office early this month and introduced the candle ritual in conjunction with the Pre-Ramadhan dinner.  Hundreds of guests from different government sectors, corporate companies as well as travel agents are present to experience the enchanting ritual.  I was very excited to get invited to the event as this was the first time I attended candle ritual event. New GM new idea, hope to see me exciting new idea from the new GM
