Buah Rambai from Tina

My favourite fruits from the jungle.  With compliment of Tina a friends for Daniel.   This fruits has a sweet and sour pulp.

This is a tropical fruits, each fruit contain 3 to 4 pulp.  The fruits is green and when it ripens it turn cream color.  The fruits scientific name is Baccaurea Motleyana.

Belimbing Api aka Fire Starfruits

I am not sure what is the real name of this fruits but the local here called it "Belimbing Api".  The fruit shape look like a flame with bright red colour.  In it is a white colour pulp which is sweet and sour.

Birthday Lunch & Dinner @ Kimbay, The Hills

The day before my birthday I went to Kimbay with Emily and Wee.  Craving for something cheesy so me and Emily ordered their cheese bake rice.  I never tried their cheese baked rice before.


I ordered Cheese Baked Rice Portuguese Style.




Emily ordered Cheese Baked Rice with Chicken Curry.




The potion of the rice is kind of big.  We having trouble to finish it but we still finish it anyway.  The baked cheese rice is really really good!

On Saturday nite I went back there again with my mom.  This time I ordered their Cheese Baked Rice with Roasted Duck. This time i share it with my mom.





I plan to go back there again this weekend for their Cheese Baked Rice.

Sumptuous Lunch Break @ Nu Er Hong, Pullman Kuching

The most famous question asked during lunch time with my colleague is "Mana Lunch?" (Meaning where to go for lunch?) and everybody would reply "Chin chai" (meaning where ever).

Nu Er Hong solved the problem by providing lunch break set lunch.  They come out with 4 set menu to cater for 2 person up to 10 person.  Each of the group get to choose a type of dishes.

1 dish of Fish /Seafood, 2 dish of Beancurd/Egg, 2 dish of Meat, 2 dish of Vegetable and dessert

Some of the choices of fish and seafood delicacies to savour for the lunch include Steamed Fish "Teochew" Style, Crispy Fried Fish with Thai Mango Sauce and Sautéed Sea Prawns with Sun-dried Chillies & Cashew Nuts.  Among the meat dishes to choose from are Steamed Bamboo Chicken "Iban" style, Wok Toss Shredded Duck Meat with Soya Bean Sauce and Beef Fillet with Shredded Young Ginger, Dry Chilli and Scallions.  If you are a vegetarian, try out our signature dishes, the Braised Smoked Vegetarian Duck with Black Pepper and Mixed Vegetables "Lo Han" Style

Local Avocado @ Milk Fruit

Few years back my friend showed me a green color fruit.  She told me that is milk fruits which is a local avocado.  After that i have been looking around for this fruits but couldn't find it.  Until last weekend I went to the midnite market with my mom, i found it.  I ask the seller what fruit is that and she told me is milk fruit in mandarin.  I ask herr if it taste like avocado.  She replied she is not sure as she has not tasted it before.  I bought the smallest fruit among all the fruits in the basket.

When I cut it open it look exactly like avocado but the taste of that fruit is not as creamy as avocado.  Or maybe it was not really that ripe yet.  Overall I like it,  I will get another one and try to keep till it is really soft.

Tortoise for the Deity

When I was still a kid,  me and cousins always excited to see this tortoise.  This cute tortoise is only available during the deity birthday which fall on the lunar calendar 22/02.  My late grandmother will go to the temple early in the morning for prayer and offering.  She will bring home 18 pcs of tortoise for each of her grandchildren.  The tortoise is actually a plain steam bun. I remember that we use to play with it kind of rough.  As it became crippled by end of the day.  By the next day what left is only the body.

Penang Food @ Pullman Hotel, Kuching

My last trip to Penang is about 2 - 3 yrs ago.  I miss the food there very very much.  I miss their Cha Kueh Tiao, Or Jien(Oyster Omelette), Nasi Kandar and many many more.  Planning to go there again somewhere around this year, HOPEFULLY!

Penang Food Promotion at Pullman Hotel is back again this time.  I can have Penang food without to travel there isn't it great?  The promotion start from 5 March - 18 March 2012.  They have setup a row of hawker stall outside of Puzzle cafe.

This blog suppose to be put up long time ago.  I have went back to this place to have Lo Pan Mee for countless time.  The Lo Pan Mee here is really really good....

Bak Moi (Pork Porridge) @ Open Air Market

Kuchingites love to go to Open Air Market at night time to have a bowl of delicious bak moi.  Which goes the same to me.  After a night out drinking we will go to Open Air Market which is situated at Jln Market which is near to Sarawak State Mosque.
